The mountains that surround Kyoto and have watched over its long history. The raised lines of the lustrous sterling silver foil catch the light and create those ridges. The unique three-dimensional Taka-Maki-e technique, in which the height of the pattern is delicately adjusted by hand to create a three-dimensional effect, is used.
